Truck’s attempt at skipping inspection leads to discovery of 100+ immigrants

Published:

More than 100 undocumented immigrants were discovered inside of a tractor trailer that tried to skip secondary inspection at the border.

The incident happened in Laredo, Texas at the Interstate 35 checkpoint.

According to News 4 San Antonio, the rig was passing through the border checkpoint when it was referred to secondary inspection by a K9 team. Instead of moving through to secondary inspection as instructed, the truck driver took off, fleeing the scene with officers in close pursuit.

At some point in the chase, the truck driver stopped the rig on the side of the highway and ran away on foot.

The agents then got the trailer doors open, revealing more than 100 immigrants, including eight children.

The unnamed truck driver was eventually found and taken into custody.

The incident is still under investigation.
