‘Blinding conditions’ force closure of I-81 in NY

Published:

Interstate 81 northbound has been partially shut down after blinding snow conditions caused a tractor trailer to jackknife.

The accident happened at 8:25 a.m. on February 15th in Ellisburg, New York.

According to ABC 50 News, all lanes of I-81 northbound at Exit 40 and 41 were shut down around 8:30 with no estimated time of reopening.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the closure and posted photos of a snow-covered highway and low visibility.

Snow is expected to continue in the area through the morning.
