Published:

The cab of a semi truck was ripped in half in a wreck with another rig in Connecticut on Saturday morning.

The accident happened on May 14th at around 5:53 a.m. on Interstate 84 near Vernon.

According to Patch News, Both trucks were traveling east on I-84, a half mile past Exit 67, when one of the drivers lost control and crashed into the other truck. The cab of the truck that lost control was ripped from the chassis in the wreck, leaving a portion of the cab on the left shoulder and the other portion on the right.

The 31-year-old driver of the seriously damaged truck was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The other driver was not hurt in the incident.

The wreck shut the eastbound side of the highway down for around six hours as crews cleared the wreckage. The roadway has since been cleared and reopened.
