Indiana State Police (ISP) confirmed that a truck driver suffered major injuries in a crash that occurred at the entrance to the weigh station in Chesterton on Thursday.
The crash occurred Thursday morning at the entrance to the eastbound I-94 weigh station.
“The investigation showed that a straight truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was driving in the ramp lane,” ISP’s Lowell Post said.
The driver of the straight truck required extrication by firefighters and was later flown to a hospital in Chicago for treatment of serious injuries.
Indiana State Police – Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division conducted a post-crash inspection of the trucks involved in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
