Five students were transported to the hospital after a collision between a school bus and a tractor trailer in Florida on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened on March 30th in Levy County on Highway 19 (also known as Highway 98) at SE 140 Lane north of Inglis.
According to Main Street Daily News, the 56-year-old female school bus driver was driving north on US 19 with 10 students on board when she stopped the bus and engaged the flashers to let students off. A semi truck traveling on US 19 then crashed into the back of the bus with the passenger side of the truck and trailer.
The force of the impact pushed the bus farther along the road and the tractor trailer came to a rest on the grassy shoulder. The bus driver suffered only minor injuries, but 10 students were taken to the hospital, two in serious condition.
No further injuries were reported and the incident is still under investigation.
