Florida trucker takes out embankment, sign after failing to chain up

A semi truck was left blocking multiple lanes after failing to chain up over a mountain pass in Washington on Sunday.

The incident occurred on November 6th along Blewett Pass in Washington at around 11:45 p.m.

According to KPQ News, 47-year-old truck driver Esdras Norelus from Florida was heading north on Highway 97 when he lost control of his rig. The truck then slid off the highway, struck a WSDOT sign and collided with an embankment.

The truck eventually came to a stop blocking the northbound lanes and a portion of the southbound lane.

Norelus and his passenger were not hurt, but Norelus was cited for failure to chain a vehicle when required. Blewett Pass had been shut down the previous day for multiple collisions and spin outs also related to failure to follow chain advisories.
