Furry co-pilot found safe after trucker owner shot on GA interstate

Published:

The dog of a truck driver shot while driving on a Georgia Interstate has been found after going missing overnight.

The driver, 42-year-old Jason Matton, was shot on northbound Interstate 75 near the Hickory Grove overpass in Cobb County on Wednesday, February 16th.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, officers believe that Matton was shot by another motorist. He is now in stable condition after suffering serious injuries.

Matton’s dog, Suzy, was spooked by the shooting and subsequent investigation and went missing shortly after the incident. Police were notified of the missing dog but were unable to locate her at the time of the incident. By Thursday morning, a Good Samaritan contacted police to notify them that they had located Suzy and were able to catch her and bring her home.

Suzy is now staying with the Good Samaritan, who says they will care for her until Matton either recovers or makes arrangements for someone to come get her.
Police are still searching for the suspect in the shooting. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to call the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
