New York State Police (NYSP) are investigating a fiery single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a truck driver on Friday morning.
The crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on Friday, April 8, in Homer, New York.
Troopers say that a 45 year old New Jersey man was operating a tractor trailer on southbound I-81 when “for an unknown reason, he went off the roadway, struck trees and the vehicle became engulfed in flames.”
The driver was later found deceased in the cab of the truck.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Homer Fire Department, Preble Fire Department, New York State Fire, the Department of Environmental Conservation, TLC Ambulance, and the County Coroner.
The incident remains under investigation.
