Semi’s crash through median blocks traffic on I-76

Interstate 76 is partially blocked after a semi truck crashed through a barrier wall near Denver on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened on January 26th at around 6:48 a.m. on I-76 at Dahlia Street.

According to Denver ABC 7, the semi truck went through the temporary median and struck at least two other vehicles. People were hurt in the incident, but the number of injured people and the extent of their injuries is not clear.

Traffic is currently being diverted off of westbound I-76 at the exit for Commerce City. CDOT advises that drivers traveling through the area take an alternate route. These include: Taking the west side frontage road off 88th Avenue to 74th Avenue; use the Commerce City to take Highway 85, exit to 74th Avenue and then get back on I-76; or take 88th Avenue west to I-25.

As of 9 a.m. there was no estimated time of reopening.
