Sheriff confirms two truckers killed in fiery wrong-way crash in Wisconsin

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) says that two truck drivers lost their lives on Thursday evening in Belgium, Wisconsin. 

OCSO responded to the crash around 6:35 p.m. on September 8 on southbound I-43 south of Sandy Beach Road.

“A northbound semi truck left the roadway, entered the southbound lanes of I-43 and struck a southbound semi truck. Both vehicles sustained severe damage. Both drivers succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” OCSO said in a news release. 

Police have not yet provided information on the identities of the truck drivers or the cause of the crash.

Southbound I-43 has reopened.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Port Washington Police Department, the Saukville Police Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, the Mequon Police Department, the Belgium Fire Department, the Fredonia Fire Department, the Port Washington Fire Department, the Waubeka Fire Department, Ozaukee County Emergency Management, Cedarburg Emergency Management, Ozaukee County Highway Department, and Lansers Towing.
