Trucker “under the influence of Xanax” arrested for attempt to smuggle 88 migrants 

A trucker was arrested late last week after agents discovered 88 migrants inside of his trailer. 

The driver was arrested on March 31st at the Interstate 35 checkpoint in Laredo, Texas at around 10:40 p.m. 

According to LMT Online, truck driver Bruce Joseph Rizor arrived at the checkpoint, where a K-9 unit alerted the to possible presence of concealed people or drugs inside of the trailer during na immigration inspection of the driver. 

Rizor and his rig were then referred to secondary inspection and agents cut the trailer seal only to discover 88 people inside of the trailer. Agents then ran a records check on the trailer and discovered that it was stolen. Two trap doors were also found inside the trailer. One of the migrants managed to escape through one of them. 

Homeland Security Investigations then took over the investigation, but found that Rizor   was under the influence of Xanax and not able to provide a statement to (special agents).” Rizor has since been arrested and charged with transport, attempt to transport and conspire to transport migrants.
