Two migrants were struck by a semi truck after a group of them fled a vehicle during a traffic stop.
The incident happened on Wednesday, August 3rd at around 11 p.m. in Tucson, Arizona.
According to KOLD News 13, a trooper pulled over a vehicle for a traffic stop, prompting six or seven migrants to bail out of the back. The group then ran across the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10, where two were struck by an oncoming tractor trailer.
The truck driver then fled the scene, but was found and arrested just two miles down the road. The driver is being investigated for DUI and drug possession. One of the migrants hit in the incident died of their injuries, and the other sustained injuries that were not life threatening.
The driver of the vehicle transporting the migrants, as well the other passenger, also apparently fled the scene and were not found.
