UPDATE: Trucker killed in bus, semi crash that created massive backups

Published:

More information has been released regarding a wreck between multiple semi trucks and a charter bus that caused 10 mile backups in Louisiana on Thursday.

The wreck happened on March 24th near West Baton Rouge. Investigators are now saying that it appears the charter bus from Mexico was coming to a stop when it was hit from behind by a semi truck. The force of that impact pushed the bus into the back of another tractor trailer, reported WBRZ News.

The truck driver in the rig that rear ended the bus was killed in the wreck. He has been identified as Ricky Hagar, a driver working for Kingdom Trucking based in Texas.

Three people on board the bus were injured, but their conditions have not been released. No other injuries were reported.

Approximately 40 passengers on the bus were transported to a community center following the wreck to wait for another ride. The stretch on Interstate 10 where the wreck occurred is infamous among local officers for frequent accidents – many of which involve tractor trailers.

The interstate was reopened around 5 p.m. on Thursday, approximately 6 hours after the wreck.
