Construction zone takes out five vehicles in failure-to-stop wrecks

Published:

Five vehicles crashed in two separate wrecks in a Mississippi construction zone on Monday morning.

The accidents occurred on August 14th on Interstate 10 west of Menge Avenue in Harrison County, Mississippi.

According to WLOX News, a pickup truck was stopped for roadwork on eastbound Interstate 10 when it was struck from behind by a semi truck. A second pickup then crashed into the back of the semi truck and became wedged underneath. The motorist in that second pickup was killed in the wreck.

A first responder vehicle was then heading to the crash scene from the westbound side of I-10 when it was struck by a pickup at full speed. The force of that collision sent the first responder vehicle spinning into the grassy median. No injuries were reported in that incident.

No further information on the wrecks has been released. Officers warn drivers still needing to pass through the area to use caution and be prepared to stop.
