A pileup crash involving dozens of vehicles has been reported on Friday afternoon in Rock County, Wisconsin.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WDOT), the pileup occurred around 12:30 p.m. on January 27 on I-39/90 between Beloit and Janesville near mile marker 181.
Local outlet WISN reports that 50 vehicles were involved in the pileup.
At least one person was injured.
“This incident occurred during a severe winter weather event with snow, ice and whiteout conditions believed to be a factor in the initial crash,” the Wisconsin State Patrol said.
Both directions of the interstate are closed until further notice and heavy traffic delays have been reported in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area while first responders assist drivers, investigate the crash and work to clear the roadway.
