A dust storm and a major multi-vehicle crash with injuries forced officials to shut down I-55 south of Springfield, Illinois, on Monday.
Illinois State Police (ISP) say that I-55 is closed in both directions from mile marker 52 – 80.

ISP says that troopers are currently working a “large” crash both south and northbound I-55 from milepost 63 to 80.
Images captured at the scene appear to show dozens of crashed vehicles.

A dust storm was reported in the area when the crashes occurred.
