The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) reported a major crash involving commercial vehicles on I-70 on Friday morning.
The crash occurred on I-70 westbound at mile marker 178, east of Vail.
Images shared from the crash site by CDOT and the Colorado State Police show multiple semi trucks heavily damaged along I-70.
There is no estimated time for re-opening the westbound lanes of I-70.
Officials have not yet provided information on injuries, how many vehicles were involved, or how the crash occurred.
CDOT says that westbound travelers may be detoured at Copper Mountain to a southern route of CO 91 and US 24 as an alternate route. (Exit off I-70 at Exit 195, south on CO 91 to Leadville, then west on US 24 to Minturn/Eagle and I-70.)
