Oklahoma trooper rear-ended while escorting CMV for inspection

A trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) was injured after his cruiser was struck by a pickup truck on Monday.

The crash occurred on Monday afternoon as Trooper Nathan Battershell was escorting a commercial vehicle off of I-40 to a “safe location for an inspection.” The cruiser’s rear deck lights were activated, according to OHP.

Trooper Battershell’s cruiser was struck from the rear by a pickup truck.

According to OHP, Trooper Battershell was treated at a hospital for non life-threatening injuries and released.

The pickup driver refused medical treatment.

The pickup driver was issued a citation for inattentive driving.
