Overturned load of fish smells up Washington highway

An overturned semi truck stunk up a stretch of highway after spilling its load of fish on Thursday morning.

The accident happened on September 21st in Marysville, Washington at around 8 a.m.

According to KATU 2, the truck overturned on Interstate 5, south of State Route 531, scattering the fish across the lanes of travel. All northbound lanes were closed for almost two hours as crews worked to clean up the smelly load.

“Roll up your windows if you’re driving through there. Seriously,” WSDOT wrote on social media.

The rig was turned back upright by 8:40 a.m. and all lanes of the highway were reopened around 9:50 a.m.

No one was hurt in the incident. It is unclear what caused the overturn.
