This week, hundreds of truckers endured a nightmarish backup on I-5 in Portland, Oregon, as heavy snowfall made travel impossible.
On Wednesday night and into Thursday, Portland received nearly 11 inches of snow, the second highest snow total ever recorded in the city.
The record snowfall was much higher than the predicted amount and stymied traffic throughout the city, with many people abandoning vehicles that became stuck.
On I-5, truckers were stuck for hours Wednesday into Thursday as the winter weather ground traffic to a halt.
Portland resident Tom Baker shared drone footage that captures the magnitude of the number of trucks stranded on northbound I-5. Baker joked that “billions” of tractor trailers were stuck on the interstate.
