Trucker takes out Christmas light attraction in Kansas after ignoring warnings from volunteers and driving through the light display anyway.
The incident happened on the evening of Wednesday, November 29th at Winfield’s Isle of Lights in Winfield, Kansas, just off U.S. Highway 77, on Main Street.
According to KSN News, the truck driver got in line to enter the exhibit in his semi truck and ignored the warnings of volunteers. As the rig drove through the display intended for cars, it took out a light display and damaged a bridge arch.
“We were coming into the park, and a semi was in front of us, and we just couldn’t believe that he was going through, and he made it all the way through until he got to the exit, and he just could not make the turns,” said D’Sha Bittinger, who was at the park and took video of the semi truck. “He actually ended up driving up onto the curb, about flipped, rolled the trailer and just kept going right on through and didn’t stop.”
The attraction closed early for the night as a result of the incident, reported the Crowley Post.
City crews were able to come and assist the attraction with the removal of damaged pieces of the bridge arch, and the site was able to reopen on Thursday evening.
