The video was captured around 5:30 a.m. on January 8, 2023, on I-80 near Iowa City.
Officials said that sixteen vehicles — including 8 commercial vehicle — collided in the westbound lanes of I-80 near mile marker 246. Two people lost their lives and several others were hurt.
Icy road conditions were reported at the time of the pileup.
