The Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) shared dash cam video showing a trooper putting himself in the way of a wrong way motorist in order to protect others on the interstate.
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, in Tooele County.
In the dash cam clip, you can see that the trooper is in the left lane of I-80 passing semi trucks to his right when a wrong way pickup hauling a U-Haul trailer appears in the left lane. The trooper slows, and when it is apparent that the pickup driver isn’t going to stop, puts his cruiser in the path of the pickup to bring it to a halt.
The pickup driver suffered minor injuries. The trooper wasn’t hurt.
