California Highway Patrol says stuck truck driver ignored signs, caused a ‘massive roadblock’

Published:

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is reminding truck drivers of the importance of reading signs after a truck got stuck and caused a ‘massive roadblock.’

On Thursday, CHP’s Santa Cruz division took to social media to warn truckers about what can happen when you ignore road signs.

From CHP:

“Always drive safe and Pay attention to road signs!

A recent incident on Felton Empire showed us the inconvenience when a black and white regulatory sign is ignored. A big rig underestimated the rules of the road and ended up causing a massive roadblock, not to mention racking up a hefty towing bill and using up emergency resources!

Remember, folks, those signs are there for a reason—to keep you and everyone else safe on the roads. When you dismiss a black and white sign, you’re not just risking a delay, you’re in for a violation (21461(a) VC) that could cost you more than just time.

Let’s all commit to being more vigilant and respectful of road regulations. Drive responsibly and keep our roads safe!”

Images shared by CHP show a nearby sign restricting vehicles more than 45 feet in length.
