Couple arrested for charging trucker $28k in fake repairs at their body shop

Published:

A husband and wife were arrested over the weekend after allegedly billing a truck driver for $28,000 in fake repairs to their semi truck.

According to Shaw Local News Network, two people in Paw Paw, Illinois purchased a 2011 Freightliner and brought it to  Krueger’s Parts and Repair at 10694 Sanderson Road for inspection and repairs on Dec. 15, 2023. The truckers paid $600 to the shop on that day, and then $6,000 for more parts on January 5th, 2024. The truckers then paid $3,000 for labor on January 22nd, and $2,000 on January 29th for “service to the transmission.” On February 5th, the truckers paid $6,000 for more parts and labor, and then $5,000 more on February 13th. The truckers made a final payment of $3,000 on March 8th, when they got their truck back from the Krueger’s shop.

Upon investigation of the payments, police discovered fake invoices made by the Kruegers. The invoices were made to look like legitimate invoices from Weller Truck Parts, Industrial Parts Depot LLC, FleetPride Heavy Duty Parts and Service, Lakeside International LLC, JX Truck Center – Bloomington and Aurora Truck Center, but were all falsified, police determined.

47-year-old Scott E. Krueger and 44-year-old Marie E. Krueger were arrested on Sunday, August 11th on warrants for theft by deception and seven counts of forgery. They have since been released, and are scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on August 29th.
