Connecticut State Police responded to a Thursday morning crash off I-84 that sent two big rigs into a pond.
The crash occurred around 2 a.m. on February 29 in Ashford, Connecticut.

Two semi trucks were eastbound on I-84 when they were involved in a crash near Exit 72 that sent both vehicles off the interstate into a pond on the side of the interstate.
Both trucks came to rest partially submerged in the pond.
It was initially reported by NBC Connecticut reports that at least one person was hospitalized with serious injuries. Later on Thursday, officials announced that one person died in the crash.
The Tolland County Dive Team responded to the crash scene.
Heavy traffic backups have been reported in the area.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
