Driver admits to using meth before dumping trailer and hiding in barn

Published:

A truck driver admitted to ingesting meth before a series of minor crashes that ended in him hiding in a barn.

The series of events occurred on Wednesday morning, October 16th in Ellsworth Township, Ohio.

According to Fox8, truck driver Markel Bufford initially crashed his tractor trailer into a concrete barrier at the Truck World truck stop in Jackson Township before driving away into Ellsworth Township.

Bufford then detached his trailer and tried to leave it in the middle of a road, but crashed into a ditch near the corner of Palmyra Road and State Route 45. Bufford then abandoned his wrecked rig, leaving behind a passenger and two dogs. He then hid in a nearby barn before police eventually found him.

Police discovered meth inside the cab of Bufford’s truck during their investigation and even obtained a confession from Bufford, stating that he had ingested meth prior to the series of events.

Bufford is currently facing OVI and felony drug possession charges.
