Driver killed after tripping while trying to stop rolling rig

A truck driver was killed by his own semi truck after the truck rolled over him on Wednesday night.

The accident happened on November 6th at an industrial park in the 800 block of Calcon Hook Road in Darby Township, Pennsylvania.

According to Delco Times, the driver was securing the trailer door on the tractor trailer after getting loaded when the rig began to roll. The driver then ran to the cab to try to stop the truck, but tripped and fell, causing him to be run over by the truck wheels.

The driver’s wife was asleep in the truck cab at the time of the incident, which was caught on surveillance video. Police are utilizing the video to determine exactly what happened.

“It looks like he trips and falls and by that time the trailer rolls over him,” Sousa said. “His wife was sleeping in the cab when the accident transpired. It’s just a tragic.”

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information has been released.
