The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) released the results from the 2024 International Roadcheck inspection campaign.
This year, Roadcheck took place May 14 — 16 in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. The areas of emphasis for this year’s inspection effort were tractor protection systems (TPS) and driver alcohol and drug possession.
During the 72 hour inspection effort, CMV enforcement personnel conducted a total of 48,761 inspections.
Inspectors uncovered a total of 13,567 vehicle, 2,714 driver and 163 hazardous materials/dangerous goods (HM/DG) out-of-service violations.
The overall out-of-service rate for Roadcheck 2024 was 23% (9,345 commercial motor vehicle combinations). The driver out-of-service rate was 4.8% (2,290 drivers), according to the CVSA.
This year, the top reason drivers were placed out-of service violation was for hours-of-service violations.
