Motorist killed after crashing under tractor trailer parked on shoulder of Florida interstate

Published:

A motorist lost his life in a two vehicle collision in Marion County, Florida, on Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on June 30 on southbound I-75 at mile marker 358.

Authorities say that a commercial vehicle hauling pontoon boats was disabled and parked along the shoulder of I-75.

A 27 year old sedan driver traveling south on I-75 veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into the rear of the truck on the shoulder. The force of the crash caused the sedan to go partially underneath the truck’s trailer.

First responders declared the sedan driver dead at the scene.

The truck driver, a 63 year old Florida resident, was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
