Semi truck turns onto road in front of ambulance, sparking crash that killed two inside of the emergency vehicle.
The accident happened on April 1st at around 9 a.m. near a gas station at the intersection of US 27 and Old US 27 in Garrard County, Kentucky.
According to KY3 News, 44-year-old truck driver Cory Dunn was heading east on Old Lexington Road when he made a left turn onto Lexington Road, right in front of a Somerset-Pulaski County ambulance.
26-year-old Chastain McWhorter, who was driving the ambulance, and 75-year-old Robert Caudill were killed in the crash. Another passenger in the ambulance, 23-year-old Bailey Haynes, was transported to a hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Dunn was also taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. Local say that the area has poor visibility and is often the site of crashes, reported Fox 19.
Officers are still investigating the crash. Video of the crash site appears to show a wrecked box truck, but officials are describing the vehicle as a semi truck. No further information has been released.
