Plunge off of bridge and into creek takes life of trucker

A semi truck’s plunge off of a bridge and into a creek took the life of a truck driver in Maryland on Monday morning. 

The accident happened on May 13th in Montgomery County, Maryland at around 10 a.m. on northbound Interstate 270 and Maryland Route 109. 

According to WUSA9, the crash involved one tractor trailer and at least one other vehicle, described as a transit van. The semi truck went completely off of the bridge and landed in a creek, killing the trucker. No one inside of the van was hurt in the incident. 

The semi truck’s plunge off of a bridge has forced the partial closure of Interstate 270, and one lane of traffic is open in both directions. MD 109 is completely shut down beneath theI-270  bridge. 

There is no estimated time for reopening. The reason for the crash has not been determined. The truck has been identified as 54-year-old Rodney Lee Gibson. No further information has been released.
