Ramp thieves caught after fleeing southeast Texas Petro

Published:

Two men accused of stealing aluminum ramps off of parked semi trucks were taken into custody after fleeing police.

The incident happened on Wednesday, November 6th at about 8:40 a.m. starting at the Petro Travel Center on 5405 Walden Road near Beaumont, Texas.

According to KFDM 6, officers were called after two men stole aluminum ramps off of tractor trailers parked at the Petro and fled west on Interstate 10 in a white box truck with Indiana license plates.

The box truck was later spotted by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy on I-10 near the Chambers County line. The officer stopped the truck, identified the driver and the passenger, and asked the driver to step out of the truck.

As the driver stepped out of the truck, the passenger hopped into the driver’s seat and drove away. Another officer then located the box truck on Highway 1406, but the driver refused to stop. Officers pursued the box truck into Liberty County and finally stopped him in Dayton on Highway 90. The driver then fled on foot, but was soon taken into custody.

No further information on the incident has been released.
