Semi truck collides with bear in wreck that traps driver

Semi truck collides with bear in single vehicle wreck that traps and injures the driver in Pennsylvania late last week.

The incident happened on April 19th just after 4 a.m. in Huston Township, Pennsylvania.

According to WJAC 6 News, the tractor trailer was traveling on Hoovertown Road, also known as Route 153, in Clearfield County when the rig collided with a black bear in the roadway. The collision caused the semi truck to veer off the road and overturn, trapping the driver inside.

The 55-year-old trucker, Troy A. Morningstar, was trapped inside of the cab and had to be extricated. Once freed, Morningstar was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. His current condition is not known, reported Jefferson News.

A portion of Route 153 was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident. No further information has been released.
