Sunday’s four semi truck, three car pileup still unexplained

Four semi trucks and three passenger vehicles collided on Sunday in a pileup still unexplained by investigating police. 

The accident happened on May 5th at about 9 a.m. on Interstate 77 in Carroll County, Virginia near mile marker 22. 

According to WFXR, first responders arrived at the scene of the crash to find all occupants of all vehicles outside of their vehicles. One person was transported to a hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known. 

I-77 was shut down as crews worked to clean up fuel spills and clear the wreckage. Traffic was detoured at exit 19, causing four mile backups. No further information has been released. All lanes were reopened as of 1:37 p.m. on Sunday.
