Teen trucker not charged for fatal collision with 15-year-old that rolled into the road on a “makeshift” skateboard earlier this week.
The accident occurred on March 5th near Maiden, North Carolina along Caleb Road just before 3:50 p.m.
According to the Charlotte Observer, the 15-year-old was riding a “board that had office chair rollers attached to it” down his driveway when he rolled onto Caleb Road “and was struck by a 2011 Freightliner truck.”
The boy was rushed to a hospital in Lincolnton, where he died of his injuries.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol closed the road for about an hour as they investigated the accident. Officers determined that speed and impairment were not factors in the crash.
Troopers stated that “no charges will be filed in this case against the driver.”
The truck driver, who is only 19-years-old, was not hurt in the wreck. No further information has been released.
