Funds from a North Carolina truck show and convoy are slated to benefit a children’s charity this month.
The Mayberry Truck Show in Mount Airy, North Carolina will take place on Friday, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th at Bottomley Enterprises Trucking. The show will feature custom trucks, a parade through town, and a concert with fireworks.
According to Mount Airy News, Bottomley Enterprises CEO Mitchell Bottomley was inspired to create a fundraiser for the Brenner Children’s Patient Assistance Fund after his own child was in the hospital.
“A few years ago, while my son was in the hospital, a child in the bed next to his cried as his mom had to leave him to go to work,” Bottomley said. “I decided right then if I ever had the opportunity to help a mom not to have to choose between staying with their child or going to work I would. This cause is near and dear to me and my team.”
The fund helps families in need pay for their expenses while their child is in the hospital. Since the truck show started, it has raised over $1 million for the fund.
“We are so grateful to Mitchell for his generosity and we are honored to have Bottomley select the Brenner Children’s Patient Assistance Fund to receive funds again this year,” said Alisa L. Starbuck, president of Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital and vice president of women’s and children’s health services at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. “This support of our Patient Assistance Fund means so much to the families of our young patients and helps ease some of the financial burdens that come with having a child in the hospital.”
