Truck travel restrictions announced for multiple roadways in New York

Published:

Truckers traveling through New York over the weekend should be aware of planned truck travel restrictions on multiple roadways.

A major winter storm is expected to impact the Buffalo and Watertown regions over the weekend. Lake effect snow and strong winds are expected to create dangerous blizzard-like conditions off the shores of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario this Saturday throughout Sunday, officials say.

Due to the expected severe weather, starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, empty trucks/trailers, and all tandem trucks are banned from the following roadways:

  • I-90 Exit 46 – PA line
  • I-190 (South of the North Grand Island Bridge)
  • Buffalo Skyway (NY 5)
  • U.S. 219
  • NY 400
  • I-190 (North of the North Grand Island Bridge)
  • I-290
  • I-990
  • Kensington Expressway (NY 33)
  • I-86 in Chautauqua & Cattaraugus County
