Trucker says fogged glasses caused him to plow through a Wendy’s

A truck driver says that his glasses fogged up while driving on Friday morning, sending him crashing into a Wendy’s.

The accident happened on July 12th at around 2:43 a.m. on South Eisenhower Boulevard off of Route 283 in Highspire Borough.

According to WGAL, the truck driver was on PA 283 West when his glasses began to fog up, clouding his vision. The semi truck then went off the road and crashed into the Wendy’s restaurant, knocking down an entire side of the building.

“He had left Lancaster Pa. and was enroute to Washington State,” police said in a statement. “He went straight off of Pa 283 West into the Wendy’s lot and struck the building.”

The truck driver sustained injuries to his face and was taken to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported. The Wendy’s was closed at the time of the incident. The crash is still under investigation.
