Trucker says he has no plans for his $500k in lottery winnings

A truck driver who snagged a winning lottery ticket during a grocery stop says he has no plans for his lottery winnings.

Truck driver Russell Gomes says he just stopped by a Food Lion grocery store in South Boston, Virginia to buy some chicken when he decided to try his luck at a lottery ticket.

Gomes purchased a Magnificent 7s scratcher and scratched it in the parking lot after acquiring his chicken. Once scratched, the ticket revealed that Gomes had won the game’s top prize – $500,000.

“I really didn’t believe it!” Gomes said to the Virginia Lottery. “It feels great!”

Gomes says that he has no real plans for the lottery winnings, but that the money will help to pay for a vacation he already had planned.
