Trucker used company card to buy $31k in lottery tickets

Published:

A concrete trucker used company card to buy $31,000 in lottery tickets and is now facing charges in Florida.

47-year-old concrete truck driver Warren Alexander Johnson was arrested on February 5th in Clearwater, Florida after admitting to buying “a couple thousand dollars” of scratch-off lottery tickets with a card given to him by his employer.

According to Fox 13 News, the owner of All Phase Paving discovered thousands of dollars of unrecognized purchases on the card from September 2023. The owner then contacted police.

Only three people had access to cards tied to the company’s bank account, and police quickly traced the charges back to Johnson. Johnson was found to have spent a total of $31,693 at multiple convenience stores.

The owner confronted Johnson about the charges, and he quickly admitted to the spending. A owner at one of the gas stations also told police that Johnson often drove his work truck to the store and purchased scratch-offs.

Johnson has been charged with scheme to defraud.
