A trucking organization is asking for help in finding the family of a truck driver killed in a wreck with a Florida trooper last week.
The accident happened on Friday, February 2nd in Port St. Lucie, Florida when the trooper turned in front of an oncoming semi truck during the pursuit of a felon. Both the truck driver and trooper Zachary Fink were killed in the wreck. The name of the truck driver has not been released “out of respect to his family.”
In the wake of the tragedy, the Truck Safety Coalition is looking to identify the trucker’s family so they can provide “compassionate support to truck crash survivors and families of truck crash victims.”
“Anything you can do to help, we’re here, we want to help victims,” said Zach Cahalan, the executive director for the Truck Safety Coalition.
“We have… a whole community of people who have been through this, maybe not this exact situation but that they know what it’s like,” Cahalan said, offering grief counseling and individual therapy to the family of the newly deceased driver.
So far, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office have no responded to requests for the driver’s identity.
Anyone with information on the truck driver’s identity is asked to contact WPTV at [email protected]
