Witnesses work to console trucker, contact police after his semi truck got stuck on a railroad crossing in Mississippi on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Gulfport, Mississippi on the railroad tracks on 33rd Avenue on February 20th.
According to WLOX, witnesses called Gulfport Police after noticing a semi truck sitting on the railroad tracks for 45 minutes. A tow truck then arrived to move the rig off of the crossing, but a train approached the crossing right as it was about to be towed.
The train then collided with the tractor trailer, ripping open the trailer, spilling the load of bananas, and forcing the shut down of roadways between 31st Avenue and Camp Avenue.
Witnesses say they did their best to help the driver, but he was distraught by the situation.
“You’re not hurt, the truck is alright, I’m sure the trailer is insured so you’ll be ok,” witness Thomas Lindsey told the unnamed trucker.
No one was hurt in the accident. No further information has been released.
