The end of a 30-year partnership between Averitt and Mercedes-Benz will affect 200 trucking jobs in Alabama starting New Year’s Eve.

Averitt has announced that its contract with Mercedes-Benz in Vance, Alabama will come to an end on December 31st. This contract termination will affect nearly 200 trucking jobs, including drivers, administrative support, and leadership within the company. Averitt has worked with Mercedes/Benz in the area since 1996.

A spokesman for Averitt stated that the changes will only affect the company’s relationship with Mercedes-Benz.

“Averitt will continue to provide a full range of transportation and logistics services in Tuscaloosa as we have for nearly 50 years now. In fact, our vision is to grow our business in West Alabama as we provide local shippers with creative and innovative solutions,” the spokesperson said to AL News.

“This partnership has been a cornerstone of Averitt’s commitment to excellence in logistics and supply chain solutions,” Averitt stated in an announcement.

“As the dedicated contract comes to a close, Averitt is actively working to ensure a smooth transition for affected associates. The company is focused on identifying new opportunities within its network to retain as many team members as possible. Averitt is also offering financial transition assistance to associates who transfer to positions within its network,” the statement said.

“While this chapter is ending, we are committed to supporting our team through this transition and helping them find new roles where they can continue to thrive within our organization,” Dan Singer, Averitt’s vice president of dedicated operations said.
