Forgotten parking brake sends semi truck into truck stop pond

A forgotten parking brake sent a semi truck into a retention pond at a truck stop on Tuesday morning. 

The accident happened on October 21st at the Love’s Travel Stop near I-94 and Wadhams Rd. in St. Clair, Michigan at about 10:30 a.m. 

According to ABC 7, Police say that the truck driver left the rig parked without setting the parking brake, causing it to roll. The truck then rolled through a fence and came to a stop with the front end in a truck stop retention pond. 

The truck driver was not inside of the rig when it rolled. No injuries were reported. 

Removal of the truck with the forgotten parking brake took about five hours. No further information has been provided.
