Four horses were killed in a semi truck rollover crash in Utah on Tuesday evening.
The accident happened on August 26th at about 5:30 p.m. on Lisbon Valley Road near La Sal, Utah.
According to KUTV 2, the semi truck was hauling 31 horses when it overturned, freeing many of the horses and killing others.
Four horses were killed in the wreck, while the others were rounded up by local cowboys and cowgirls gathered by the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. The horses were then transported to the nearby fairgrounds, where they were kept and cared for until other arrangements were made.
“Unfortunately 4 of the horses passed away from the crash but because of efforts and help from Guy Tracy, Charlie Tracy, Nathan Freestone, David Robinson, Steven Robinson, Brian Robinson, and Loren Holyoak the rest were saved,” the sheriff’s office said. “This was a big operation for our county and without the help of our residents we wouldn’t have been able to pull it off.”
The driver of the semi truck was not hurt. The reason for the crash has not been released.
