I-70 rest areas in Missouri to close until spring 2026 with truck parking open

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) is asking drivers to plan ahead for long-term rest area closures along I-70 in the Boonville area.

MODOT will close the rest areas on I-70 at mile marker 104 near Boonville in Cooper County to allow for renovations.

The westbound I-70 rest area will close at 6 a.m. on January 21. The eastbound I-70 rest area is scheduled for closure in early February 2025.

During the closure, car parking and the buildings will be closed. Truck parking will remain open, but drivers will not have access to any facilities.

Planned rest area upgrades include expansion to include an interior vestibule, family restroom, and vending area.

Work on the rest areas is expected to be complete by spring 2026.
