Drivers can expect an increased police presence on two highways in Indiana due to increasing concerns over truck traffic.
The St. Joseph County Police Department in Indiana is increasing their presence on Indiana 2 and Us Highway 20 starting on Monday, February 24th.
According to South Bend Tribune, two separate crashes involving tractor trailers occurred in the area last week, and multiple other crashes were reported in the area in the weeks prior. Police say that the new “problem spots” are partially due to an increase in traffic from a new Amazon facility.
“Ultimately, our community is not feeling safe,” police said in a February 23rd press release.
Indiana 2 and the St. Joseph Valley Parkway, along with Indiana 2 and Willow Road, in Olive Township will be two areas of focus for officers. Officers will be pulling drivers over for any traffic violations in an attempt to “remedy these very serious concerns.”
