Moving company still demanding final payment for delivery of shipment left on side of road after crash

A family says that a moving company is still demanding final payment for the delivery of their belongings after a crash left the load on the side of the road.

Alejandra and Bert Wing moved from Hawaii to Florida in July after Bert retired from the military. They hired a moving company that estimated the delivery of their belongings between four and eight weeks. On October 8th, the moving truck hauling their belongings crashed off State Route 69 near Prescott, Arizona, breaking open the trailer, and the company just left their belongings on the side of the road, reported Live5 News.

Photos of the abandoned belongings were posted to social media, and the Wing’s were eventually contacted by a police officer who found their name on documents left amongst the piles of their things. That officer was the one who notified them of the crash.

The Wings say that people had gone through their belongings, taking some of their items.

“It’s unbelievable how people can do that,” Alejandra Wing said. “Your identity is like totally exposed. Everybody went through the items and there was sensitive stuff in there.”

The Wings say that the moving company has still not notified them of the crash and lost belongings, and that they are still demanding final payment before they will schedule a delivery date for the items that are now lost or stolen.

“They’re still playing it like we would still receive our household goods here anytime soon,” Alejandra Wing said.

“There’s a million frustrations with this moving company,” Bert Wing said.

The couple has put out a call asking for the return of special items presumably stolen by people who rummaged through the wreckage.

“There were some heirlooms in there that are 400 years old,” Bert Wing said. “If they can find it in them to return the personal belongings, that would be great.”
