Nearly half of all semi trucks inspected in Ontario last week were placed out of service during a crack down on illegal semi trucks.
The initiative took place between November 11th and November 12th in Kenora and Rush Bay, Ontario, Canada.
According to Kenora Miner & News, the Kenora Department of the Ontario Provincial Police teamed up with the Ministry of Transportation to conduct a total of 47 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance inspections.
Out of the 47 CMVs inspected, 20 of those were placed out of service – nearly half. 26 warnings were also issued, and 43 violations were discovered.
“This joint enforcement initiative highlights the continued collaboration between the OPP and MTO to enhance commercial motor vehicle safety, improve road safety, and ensure regulatory compliance,” the OPP wrote.
“A strong balance of education and enforcement was achieved (and) collectively, these agencies remain committed to reducing collisions and deterring unsafe vehicle operation.”
